It’s the Easter month. And while most ad people were thinking, “How can I wrangle a ten day holiday?”, Terry Mann and Jack White at Melbourne video agency, Gen C, were thinking, “What if an ad agency had Jesus as a client?”
whiteGREY creative director, Ronojoy ‘TinTin’ Ghosh, noticed. Noticed that the pair – along with director, Julian Lucas; producer, Nic Cox; cinematographer, Samuel Broeren; and editor Chris Axiaq – have created something wonderful. Their short film, For Your Sins, is the first of Ghosh’s three ads that wowed this month.
FOR YOUR SINS [Gen C]
Nailed it! For your sins, had me laughing all the way through. A brutally honest depiction of our industry. But that’s the great thing about our industry we can laugh at ourselves and produce gems like this. To quote Matt the CEO, “Anyone else thinking awards?” Yes, me. And for those who haven’t seen this yet, please watch it.
For Your Sins was one of eight films chosen to premier on opening night of the St Kilda Film Festival.
Here are Ghosh’s other top picks:
GRAVE OF THRONES [DDB Sydney, Revolver Will O’Rourke & The Glue Society]
Simple, cool and a nice pun to top it off. I love the craft and attention to detail in this work. Didn’t get a chance to visit, but graveyards spook me. I love how they took the idea beyond a physical piece and gave it a more immersive experience online. Game of Thrones really doesn’t need advertising for people to watch it but if you’re going to, might as well make it epic.
TELSTRA – NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT DATA [The Monkeys]
Love the art direction and humour in these spots. My favourites were Burning Car and Japser. I felt the idea of “at least you don’t have to worry about data” was the clearest in those. It’s hard to take a straight brief and turn it into something that sticks in people’s heads. I watched all seven of them, Xiexie.
