Ad Stars has snared legendary Thai creative, Suthisak Sucharittanonta, as the first executive judge to be announced for this year’s awards.
Sucharittanonta is chairman and chief creative officer of BBDO Bangkok. He is regarded as a pioneer of creative Thai advertising and is one of the most awarded creatives in Asia.
“I’ve heard nothing but praise for Ad Stars as a friendly, passionate organisation that is committed to supporting creativity. Anyone can enter their work into Ad Stars, regardless of how big or small their awards budget is, so I’m curious to see which agencies will be celebrated at Ad Stars 2017. It’s an honour to be invited,”Sucharittanonta commented.
Ad Stars will celebrate its 10th anniversary during a three-day festival from August 24-26 in Busan, South Korea. Entries are now open for agencies, creatives, production companies, students and advertising enthusiasts from all over the world. Submissions deadline is May 15, 2017.
Sucharittanonta joined BBDO Bangkok in 1998 and BBDO’s Worldwide Creative Committee in 2004. That year, has was also inducted into the Bangkok Art Directors Association’s Hall of Fame.
In 2003, he made history by receiving Thailand’s first Cannes Film Gold Lion award. More than a decade later, he continues to make his mark at BBDO Bangkok, which has been named the #1 Creative Agency in Thailand for the past three consecutive years by the Gunn Report. Sucharittanonta was also named Southeast Asia Creative of the Year 2016 by Campaign Asia.
More than 20,000 entries are expected to be received in 2017 from over 70 countries. This makes Ad Stars the biggest advertising awards show in Asia. It is also the only festival with a US$10,000 cash prize for Grand Prix of the Year winners.
