deFrost is about to hold its 50th event. And it looks like being a standout. The deFrost brand is a series of curated talks, lectures and activations that are built on the pillar that strong and thoughtfully executed ideas have the power to positively transform not only the way we live but the kind of world we live in. At its 50th, Anthony Lister will present Virtual Canvas of the Inside Mind, immersing his audience in his adventure painting. Creating a live, 3D, graffiti execution on the night using Tiltbrush.
The VR experience intends to “shake up, inspire and cross-pollinate VR’s potential”. To get it inserted into conversations where pop-art meets architecture, comic meets culture and installation meets fine art.
Lister is known as a disruptor, reimagining stencil and street artwork with his freestyle colour explosions, inventive practices and controversial art pieces that have proven themselves to be both seductive and shocking.
His ideas have given identity and character to hundreds of streets throughout the world, and his work has been displayed at solo exhibitions in galleries in Sydney, Milan, France, New York, London, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Today Lister’s workpieces are valued at around $12,000+, making them highly attractive to top art collectors.
Anthony Lister’s experimental approach has led him to explore new territories and he is already integrating technology, AR and VR to his work.
“The first rule of painting is to take everyone else out of the equation. I am the viewer, so I don’t underestimate my viewers,” he stated.
“They see everything and I just have to assume that they are me. I can’t paint for anyone else. It’s all about having the courage to say this is finished and they have to know that, I am the boss in painting. Tiltbrush is a really fun tool so no doubt we’ll all learn something new on the night.”
deFrost’s Virtual Canvas of the Inside Mind is sponsored by Adobe Australia and New Zealand in partnership with NestVR, a part of Frost*collective, and branded content company, Entropico.
“We believe there is a responsibility to contribute to the broader development of ideas and to encourage participation in that process,” Vince Frost commente. “We are excited to have Anthony Lister be part of deFrost at a time when we’re witnessing high receptivity to the merging boundaries between the corporate and creative worlds. We are very excited about what Lister will create on the night.”
