Would men be more vigilant about prostate checks if they realised it was an essential part of their fertility? Hell yeah.
Director, Kiran Koshy, and three friends were discussing a recent study on prostate health and the role of the prostate – to secrete prostate fluid. This led to a challenge. They began creating a list of creative nicknames for semen. This turned into a text chain, which they called Euphejisms, with terms like Lust Custard, Motion Lotion, Yank Yolk, Ovary Oil, Fappuccino, Honorable Discharge, Gene Gumbo, Fap Sap, Womb Raiders, and Brogurt. They then realised they had hit upon an idea to raise awareness of prostate health. The foursome thought it would make perfect sense from the male perspective to appeal to the male sense of humour and ageless obsession with their boy parts’ functionality.
Koshy decided to publish a book titled Euphejisms, A Glossary of Sperminology.
Euphejisms, A Glossary of Sperminology, is available for purchase on Etsy and is now part of a prostate awareness campaign, released during Men’s Health Month (June). Accompanying the book is a website and a PSA, which features a scholarly looking narrator who reads euphejisms from the book as he casually walks through a manicured park. Koshy shot the entire spot pro bono with the help of a student crew that he teaches at his alma mater, Texas A&M Commerce.
One in 9 men will face prostate cancer during their lifetime. Contrary to the belief by some cultures that men should not “spill their seed”, new studies show that more frequent ejaculation can actually reduce your chances of developing prostate cancer especially in men over the age of 50.
100% of profits from the book will be donated to the prostate cancer non-profits. Purchase the book here.
