And now for something completely fun, because mocking Trump always is. Alexander the Grape, the 1908 Candy brand that Americans have loved – and then missed – for a very long time, has returned. The lolly has been revamped for 2020 tastes – it has a little more edge and a more intense flavour. And its arrival is being announced with a 2020 campaign, Make America Grape Again, by Mann Sales Co, the company that “makes boring things interesting”.
The billboard campaign makes fun of Trump’s most obvious flaws (and some current news items) with comically outspoken statements such as:
- Has never groped a licorice
- Zero allegations of inappropriate behaviour
- It’s time we had a leader with balls
- This election, chews wisely
- Not sleepy, not crazy, just delicious
- Yes, we can(dy)
- It’s the candy, stupid
