Kevin the Carrot may have become a Christmas icon in a very short time, but Aldi UK and McCann Manchester are not taking any chances with his fourth appearance in the Christmas ad line-up. They have amped up the allure of this year’s Aldi Christmas commercial with the inclusion of Robbie Williams, who sings his hit, Let me Entertain You, in the spot.
The film features the same beautiful, bountiful Christmas spreads as did previous years, but this commercial is all the more spectacular with its references to Peaky Blinders, A Christmas Carol and The Greatest Showman. There’s also a dramatic escape (Tiny Tom, the cherry tomato rescues Kevin from the grater to which the Leafy Blinders have tied him), a musical theatre performance and the circus favourite human cannonball (in this case, the human is played by a sprout).
“We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks,” stated Sean McGinty, marketing director at Aldi UK.
“Kevin’s popularity grows every year and he’s becoming something of a national treasure! Kevin’s magical Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year.”
The film made its TV debut on Thursday, November 7.
