Parodies are engaging. They’re rather good at hitting your funny bone. Parodies of situations that have frustrated you in real life are funnier. And they’re exceptionally good at hitting you in the bit that makes decisions.
mcgarrybowen Amsterdam’s job was make people understand how useful Adobe Stock is. It chose a parody – The Hovering Art Director. If you work in a studio, the hovering art director has frustrated you in real life. Every agency has one.
He or she is the micro-manager who stands over your shoulder and watches your every move, incessantly providing ridiculous feedback.
In the video, a designer heroically manages the demands of his hovering art director – with the able assistance of Adobe Stock and Creative Cloud. With the client, Wolfbear ginger bear, almost on the doorstep, he creates original artwork in accordance with the art directors ever-changing ideas, that uses 100 individual Adobe Stock images, including a baby bear, a wolf, an astronaut, a tornado, and a particularly epic volcanic explosion.
The video is part of Adobe’s new Hovering Art Director global campaign that spotlights the benefits of the integration between Creative Cloud and Adobe Stock.
The full campaign includes a collection of even more hilarious outtakes.
“We really pushed the content to the maximum, looking for all sorts of images to make this crazy composition. We discovered first-hand how much quality and diverse content Adobe Stock offers. You just chuck a search term into the side panel and seconds later there it is in your comp,” stated mcgarrybowen Amsterdam creative director, Daniël Sytsma.
Adobe is also hosting a webinar on March 30 at 10am PST. During the one-hour live masterclass, mcgarrybowen Amsterdam art director, Michael James Phillips, and designer Magic Group Media, Alessandro Pisano, will teach the finer points of compositing and retouching – and how to recreate the WolfBear artwork.
