The Christmas turkey is wonderful fuel for funniest home videos. It’s the stuff epic fails are made of – many epic fails. It’s also a Christmas tradition. Christmas, KFC agency, Mother, acknowledges is when everyone has the “lesser” poultry front of mind. And on the dinner table.
The agency has bundled all of this knowledge into series of very funny animated 10-second videos that comments on the hazards that are likely to be encountered when preparing turkey – forgetting to defrost it, realising too late that your oven is too small, accidentally incinerating it…
At the end of each video is a little note from KFC – Good luck on the 25th. Until then we’ve got you.
Kate Wall, head of advertising and retail at KFC UK & Ireland commented, “Burnt, overdone, chewy, dry… we’ve all got a turkey horror story. And they’re usually enough to keep any family’s designated chef up all Christmas Eve. This year we wanted our Christmas campaign to take an irreverent, cheeky look at the ritual that has become Christmas Turkey. Wishing everyone good luck with the turkey on 25th December. ‘Cos until then we’ve got you.”
The five 10-second TVCs are supported by OOH & social, which tease the turkey nightmares the week before focusing in on the KFC’s heroics.
