Special Group’s Uber Eats Australia pairing of Kim Kardashian and Sharon Strzelecki (Magda Szubanski) was genius (the idea is also genius) but it may have just been overtaken by the US pairing of Queer Eye host, Jonathan Van Ness, and Olympian Simone Biles. The same reasons rule – brilliant use of each celebrity’s personality or talent and wry humour.
The icing on the cake this time is the surprise of Van Ness’ (physical) flexibility.
The new campaign is running in the US and Canada on TV, in social, radio, digital and OOH.
This is the second edition of Tonight I’ll Be Eating in the US. The first featured Mark Hamill (Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker) and Sir Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Next Generation).
The campaign plays on the eternal question, “What will I have for dinner tonight?”. Apparently the campaign was born out of the knowledge that two out of three people don’t know the answer to this on any day, and people’s fascination with the lives of celebrities.
It has been a hit throughout the world. Originating in Australia, it has spread to Taiwan, Japan and New Zealand with local pairings in each country.
