It rained in Sydney (relentlessly) right across the two weeks of Christmas. Australians can’t go anywhere. They can’t even go to neighbouring states (on and off, depending on which state has does or doesn’t have Covid cases). Travel is virtual only, and virtual travel is thriving. So Special Group has created a series of tour guide videos from the Cook Islands, which are missing their usual influx of visitors.
Except that in an unusual year (another one – ugh), they’re not the usual travel guide:
Special Group and Hungry Jack’s partnered up with local tour guides to give tours of the Tropical Whopper instead of holiday destinations left desolate due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Each of the three guides provides a tour of the limited-edition Tropical Whopper burger from Hungry Jacks and available exclusively on Uber Eats. The guides are running in social media, presented by Ina and Kura from KiteSUP Paddle board tours and Josh from Charlotte Piho’s turtle and underwater photography tours.
Tom Martin, partner & chief creative officer of Special Group Australia, commented, “Because local tour guides like Ina and Charlee are so naturally warm and welcoming, they made the idea of swapping tours of tropical destinations for tours of a tropical burger not only clever, but just bloody charming.”
Uber Eats head of marketing ANZ, David Griffiths, added, “Partnering with Hungry Jack’s to launch their Tropical Whopper exclusively on our platform was always going to be exciting. Special Group have created a brilliant summer campaign that has bags of humour and heart. We’re proud to work with the Cook Island tour guides and hope when flights open back up this inspires Aussies to go and see them in person.”
