Sweetshop has added a new role to incorporate its growth and expanded ambitions, head of production for Australia. Llew Griffiths has moved from Goodoil to fill that role. Griffiths will be based in the Sydney office and oversee all productions across Sweetshop’s Sydney and Melbourne operations, as well as being integral to the bidding process.
Griffiths brings more than 17 years of experience to Sweetshop, split between production company and agency roles. He began his career in Saatchi & Saatchi’s TV production department in Sydney, during which time the agency was awarded Agency of the Year three years consecutively by Campaign Brief. Seven years later, he moved to the UK where he continued to work as a freelance producer. When he returned home, he rejoined Saatchi and soon became executive producer. He joined Goodoil in 2014.
Griffiths has worked with Aldi, Toyota, Cadbury, Steinlager and Foxtel, and has been credited as agency or production producer on winning campaigns at every major advertising awards show, including Cannes Lions, D&AD and LIA.
Edward Pontifex, managing director and executive producer of Sweetshop Australia commented, “We’re super lucky to land Llew – an incredible asset to any production. He has an impeccable record of overseeing complex productions with extensive logistical challenges and sensitivities, as well as working brilliantly with some of the top creative talent of our day. I’m really excited about what he’ll bring to our Sweetshop Australia’s team.”
Llew added, “I’ve been attracted to how diverse Sweetshop’s offering is. The quality of the work, the team and the culture are all an added bonus. It’s a very unique business and I hope I can make a big impact for them.”
Griffiths’ new role is part of a management reconfiguration in which Edward Pontifex became managing director, Wilf Sweetland became chief executive officer and Paul Prince became chairman
