The coronavirus has made another pandemic surge again. Racism against Asians is spreading wildly throughout the world. A group of Spanish creatives has launched a non-profit limited edition of masks that fight racism while they are being worn to block COVID-19.
The masks are part of a movement, Racismistherealvirus, led by DDB Spain senior creative, Alex Delgado. All creatives throughout the world are invited to design their own masks and have them produced. Design your mask and Spanish urban brand, YesOuhYeah Apparel, will produce and promote it. Buy a mask and support the cause. All benefits will be donated to GlobalGiving to mitigate against the consequences of Coronavirus.
Already, creatives and designers from DDB, TBWA, Anomaly, Marcel and Droga5, among others, have collaborated to fight this virulent wave of racism. They have also created some posters to promote the project.
This is its manifesto:
Dear Racism,
This project has been launched by creatives partnering with YesOuhYeah Apparel to fight against you.
We decided to take action because we cannot believe that in the 21 century, while the world is facing a Coronavirus outbreak, a much worst virus is rapidly escalating, YOU.
Your followers are pointing their fingers at others, denying their freedom, hurting something more painful than their skin, their roots.
But let us tell you something; we still have faith in humanity.
Maybe you are winning today, but our masks are gonna be ready tomorrow.
So, please, Go fuck yourself!
Unrespectfully,
the whole team of this project.
Peace.
