Vladimir Vaskevich turned his disability into a business opportunity. He lost his sight when he was two years old. Now he conducts blindfolded tours called Trip in the dark around his city in Russia, allowing people to use their other senses – hearing, smell and touch to discover their city in a new way.
To promote his project, Russian agency, Voskhod has created a website that gives people a taste of the experience. It lets them enter a world built with sounds, touches, tastes and trust.
Each user encounters new ways of interaction with the internet environment through voice commands, audio marks and 3D orientation*. Street noise, humming, water drops, car horns…these things become guides replacing the vision we usually rely on.
*The list of technologies used for the website development includes Cinema 4D, canvas, sound mapping, Google Voice-To-Speech service API, THREE.js, vue.js, svg-animation, Google maps API, browsers resources (motion orientation and voice recording).
