Wonderful creative work from a PR company. It’s happening more and more. Weber Shandwick’s animated film, Love Hate Relationship, for Breast Cancer Now presents the range of relationships women have with their beasts during their lives. It’s unabashed, honest and real – and intensely relatable because of all of these.
The aim of the film is to encourage women to get their breasts checked and trigger conversations about breast cancer and it is part of the charity’s Check Them breast health awareness campaign in the UK. 47% of women in Britain do not check their breasts regularly for potential signs of breast cancer, according to a YouGov survey commissioned by the charity.
The film was created by Anna Ginsburg, a filmmaker who is not shy when it comes to talking about women’s concerns with their bodies. Her 2016 film, Private Parts, which aired on Channel 4, explores the insecurities and desires real people feel through the voices of talking genitals, who discuss masturbation, sexuality and vaginas.
Her 2018 film, What is Beauty?, created for CNN and released for International Women’s Days, shows how what the world has seen as beautiful in women has changed through the ages. It was a personal undertaking for Ginsburg, whose sister had succumbed to anorexia.
