Vaccinations for children have begun in Québec. To allay fears and concerns, Cossette and Great Guns director, Olivier Staub, have produced a wonderfully simple idea – children scaring Covid-19 by making monster faces. The film weaves drama with comedy and playfulness, underlined by ultra-slow motion and an orchestral soundtrack by Paul-Etienne Cote. Its “role reversal”, the message that Covid should be more scared of kids than kids are of it, aims to remind parents why they should vaccinate their children and make children less resistant to the idea of getting a needle.
Staub explained, “When I was first approached for the project, the brief was to promote the vaccination of 5-11 year-olds in an epic, fun and cinematic way. That’s when the dichotomy of dramatic orchestral music and extreme slow motion hit me. Suddenly, it all made sense: kids giving it their all to scare the shit out of Covid-19. This led to playful storytelling that conveys our message entertainingly without becoming over-dramatic.”
Staub is represented by Great Guns in USA, UK & Asia.
