Wieden + Kennedy’s last ad for Finish is a humorous musical as enticingly different as the ads it has created since the launch of D&AD Pencil winner, Dishes, in 2015.
The 75 second film, that exaggerates the misery of washing dishes by hand – delightfully – will run in a number of countries, including China, Brazil, South Africa and Turkey, where hand-washing is still the norm.
Its lyrics and original music were created by W+K London. The final composition and recording were by Warner Music.
The ad’s climax is the inflating of a yellow rubber glove – the symbol of hand washing – which eventually bursts as the voiceover suggests, leave dishwashing to dishwashers. The exploding rubber glove will be used as a motif in print, out-of-home and social. Radio edits of the ad’s song will be aired at the times of day when people are most likely to be washing up.
Wieden+Kennedy London creative directors, Carlos Alija and Laura Sampedro, commented, “It’s always challenging to tackle such diverse audiences across the world, but tapping into the universal shared misery of having to wash the dishes by hand opened up creative space relevant to all.”
