This year, London International Awards (LIA) will introduce Regional of the Year awards, following many requests. These will be added to its Global of the Year awards and winners will receive an LIA Statue.
Regional winners will be based on a point system, like the global ones. The regions recognised will be: Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), Asia, Europe, Middle East/Africa, North America and South America.
Robert Galluzzo, executive producer of Finch Sydney, commented, “Winning LIA Regional Production Company of the Year will instantly put a company on the world map.”
Ralph van Dijk, founder and creative director of Eardrum Sydney, noted, “To win bragging rights as best in class within your own market will be a very useful marketing tool. Another excellent innovation from LIA.”
Matt Eastwood, worldwide chief creative officer of J. Walter Thompson, added, “Providing an opportunity for regional agencies and production companies to be recognised for their creative excellence is a wonderful addition to the already prestigious LIA Awards. It allows the best of local to sit side by side with the best of global. Bravo.”
John Mescall, global executive creative director of McCann Worldgroup, stated, “This is a great initiative from LIA. So much culturally unique work is created every year around the world, and it’s really pleasing that different regions will be now recognized by the show. Can’t wait to see who ends up on top.”
LIA will potentially award statues for the following Regional of the Year Awards – Network of the Year, Agency, Production Company, Post-Production Company, Design Company, Independent Agency, Radio & Audio and Health Company of the Year.
Like the Global of the Year awards, the Regional awards are discretionary based on the number of points attained. To win a Regional of the Year award, the top company must achieve the required number of points.
The LIA Entry System is open for entries. The initial entry deadline is the June 12.
