In October last year, Marmite offered to hypnotise Marmite haters into lovers with a 15-minute online experience of “hypnosis”. The Mind Control campaign by adam&eveDDB was a fun idea that has now expanded.
It is interrupting other brands’ TVCs with one second “subliminal advertising” for Marmite. The ads use “brain messages” such as love it, don’t hate and yum yum. Participating brands include Virgin, Surf, Seat, Foster’s and AA.
The full campaign also includes unbranded OOH and print ads using “hypnotic” graphic design imagery and the words, Hater, become a lover.
