WPP’s global activation agency, ADK, will host the 2018 Young Lotus Workshop, AdFest’s two-and-a-half-day workshop for young creatives. The 2018 teams from around the region will learn from ADK’s top creative experts before being presented with a live brief and just 24-hours to make the deadline.
Rob Sherlock, chief executive officer of ADK Global, will be chairman of next year’s Young Lotus Workshop.
“I’m passionate about Adfest and helping develop the talent of tomorrow,” Sherlock commented.
“The focus of our workshop will be transformation, collaboration and growth – making sure that the new wave of creators are ready for the reality of what’s next.
“One thing that particularly excites me is that we have a truly diverse workshop committee with eight mentors in total from five countries. Together, we are looking forward to running a transformational Young Lotus Workshop!”
Sherlock has worked in agencies on five continents including McCann in South Africa, JWT in London, FCB in New Zealand, Asia and North America. He is now based in Singapore and has been with ADK since 2014. Prior to ADK, Sherlock was chief creative officer at Draftfcb Chicago, and regional executive creative director of FCB Asia Pacific.
ADK’s philosophy is to “create ideas that move people, create actions that move products off shelves, and create stories that move communities forward”. It was the first agency to expand out of Japan, and is passionate about transformation, collaboration and growth.
Jimmy Lam, president of AdFest, noted, “The young creatives who participate in our Young Lotus Workshop have the chance to accelerate their careers and learn from the industry’s best. We’re delighted that Rob is taking time away from his responsibilities at ADK to share his knowledge of great ideas and powerful storytelling.”
ADK will also host the Young Lotus session on stage at ADFEST 2018, at which top Young Lotus teams will have the chance to present the ideas they created in response to ADK’s brief. Afterwards, AdFest delegates will be invited to vote for their favourite team to determine the Young Lotus Popular Vote. The winners of both the Young Lotus and the Popular Vote will be revealed during the Adfest 2018 Lotus Awards.
Young Lotus teams are selected by local representatives in markets across the region. Find out more here.
ADFEST has also appointed its third jury president. Kitty Lun will oversee the Interactive Lotus and Mobile Lotus jury.
Lun is head of Creative Shop for Facebook, Greater China, a role she has held since early 2016.
“I am happy and honoured to accept the invitation. AdFest is a festival that supports creative talent in our region and encourages innovation. I’m looking forward to seeing the best interactive ideas being produced,” Lun commented.
Lun began her career at Leo Burnett in Hong Kong as a copywriter and she climbed through the ranks quickly to become a creative director eight years later.
In 1997, she joined joining Euro RSCG Partnership Hong Kong as managing director and chief creative officer and became chairman and chief executive of Lowe Worldwide China, based in Shanghai, prior to joining Facebook.
Lun has been fascinated by digital trends since 2000, when she joined miclub.com, an Asian women’s portal, as chief executive officer. Having worked for many top agencies around Asia, she is now based in Hong Kong, working with agencies to implement eye-catching Facebook campaigns across Greater China.
Jimmy Lam, President of AdFest, commented, “Kitty is a formidable creative force to be reckoned with, and her experience at Facebook over the past two years makes her the ideal person to lead our Interactive and Mobile Lotus jury.”
AdFest 2018 will run over four days from March 21-24 in Pattaya, Thailand.
And the AdFest Awards is still open for entries until Friday, January 18, or Friday 12th January for categories that are judged remotely. Enter here.
