Mother Nature can be nasty. Financial services co-operative Co-operators is helping Canadians to manage her volatility not just by rebuilding after the fact, but by embedding resilience, at no extra cost to clients, to help prevent damage in the first place.
Agency, Angry Butterfly, was given the job of making the value of this service stand out. Its commercial features a real Co-operators financial advisor speaking to the camera and educating viewers on some of the key damage-prevention tools. That seems pretty standard. But it’s not standard at all. Instead of being in a typical office or studio, the financial advisor is in an actual storm simulator (located in Oshawa, Ontario) facing hurricane-level winds and rain, all while keeping calm and delivering her messages on point.
“It was important to find a creative approach that can break through in a relevant way, but also highlights our unique and incredible TomorrowStrong coverage that protects homes against future risks – both of which this work does so wonderfully,” stated Sunita Raj, AVP integrated marketing & performance marketing, Co-operators.

“What I love about this idea is it’s a product demo, but executed in a way that grabs you from the first second,” added Erin Kawalecki, partner & CCO, AngryButterfly. “We love brave clients, and in this case that was true in a very literal way, with what we put this advisor through on set. In all seriousness, her willingness to stand in a storm simulator in order to educate Canadians on how to be safe reflects the real care these advisors have for their clients.”
The campaign is running across Canada on connected TV, digital and social media. The hero commercial was produced by Nimble Content with post by Recess Post and music & sound by Pirate Toronto.
