Twisted. Black. Complex, with a touch of humour and absolutely wonderful. O’Human Being is an animated story told in a series of letters by Peter (voiced by Richard E. Grant) to his wife, Sarah. It’s also Anomaly’s macabre and inventive version of a Christmas film. It was written, directed, animated & produced by Anomaly & Unreasonable Studios
“Dearest Sarah. If you are reading this, I am dead,” Peter begins.
Peter is a Christmas tree. When a family of Christmas trees chop Peter’s feet off, stand him in the corner of their living room, and decorate him in tinsel and lights, Peter has to devise a plan of escape in order to make it home to his beloved wife. In fact, he devises several plans and his moods change from agony to hope, despair and acceptance accordingly.
Ultimately, he delivers a Christmas message for children everywhere.
Anomaly executive creative director, Oli Beale, who was instrumental to the creation of this year’s grisly film, commented, “Christmas ads are all a bit ‘nice’. So we’ve gone dark this year.”
O‘Human Being is the third annual Christmas film from Anomaly, each of which shows off the agency’s striking creativity.
