The 2020 APAC Effie Awards Ceremony was held virtually in a live stream over two days.
122 finalists from 12 markets contended for top honours. The judging committee, led by Awards chairman, David Porter, handed out 81 Effies – 1 Grand Effie, 18 Golds, 25 Silvers and 37 Bronzes.
- The Grand Effie, or Best-in-Show, was won by BMF Sydney and ALDI Australia for Loyalty Pointless Points which showed how ALDI’s Good Different brand platform enables points-loving Australians to buy more for less without the need for loyalty schemes.
- Ogilvy Sydney and Colenso BBDO shared Agency Of The Year. DDB Group New Zealand was #3.
- Stanley Street Auckland was named Independent Agency of the Year. Edelman Sydney was #2 and GIGIL Philippines was #3.
- Ogilvy was crowned Agency Network of the Year with 14 wins – 3 Golds, 3 Silvers and 8 Bronzes. BBDO Worldwide was #2, McCann Worldgroup was #3
- Top winners by country were #1 New Zealand with a 20 Effies, #2 Australia with 13 Effies, #3 India with 12, #4 Japan with 9, and #5 China with 8 Effies.
- KFC was Brand of the Year and parent, Yum! Brands, was Marketer of the Year. Pantene was #2 and Chacops was #3 Brand of The Year. Proctor & Gamble was #2 and New Zealand Police was #3 Marketer of the Year
