Anyone can drive a Polestar 5, the merging of the sports car and the GT in a pure performance grand tourer – in the digital world. Polestar has taken the car to GranTurismo 7 on PlayStation 4 and 5, debuting at the GT World Series in Los Angeles and available via a free December update.
The collaboration gave both Polestar and Polyphony Digital access to each other’s development teams, resulting in a digital car that mirrors the real-world driving experience. Professional racer and sim driver, Igor Fraga, tested prototypes in Sweden and the UK, feeding insights directly into the game’s physics and handling.
Hunter Skipworth, Polestar creative director, stated, “Having a ‘digital development driver’ is something really unique and has added so much more depth to this project. Igor Fraga is as quick on track as he is in Gran Turismo. Watching him test drive the car for the first time in Tokyo, with the software developers watching, was a real pleasure. The end result is an extremely accurate version of the Polestar 5 in the game—made out of the joint passion that both we and Gran Turismo have for cars.”

The launch includes a special time trial competition in-game and a documentary series on Polestar’s YouTube channel, showcasing the blend of digital and real-world testing.
Michael Manske, Polestar CMO, added, “Polestar builds the performance cars of tomorrow, and Gran Turismo lets us share that vision with a global, highly engaged audience. The game’s realism allows people to experience our cars and performance DNA virtually, reaching far beyond the dealership. Bringing a real Polestar 5 to the track alongside the game underscores both precision and vision—showing the future of driving in a way only Polestar can.”
Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo series producer, commented, “I have long been impressed by Polestar cars for their advanced, clean, and elegant designs, and so I am delighted to collaborate with them to bring the Polestar 5 to Gran Turismo. The development team at Polestar put a great deal of care into crafting the car’s driving experience, and so I am sure the players will enjoy the experience of driving it in Gran Turismo.”
