If you’ve never wanted to read (or re-read) George Orwell’s 1984, B-Reel Stockholm, has created a provocative campaign film to change that. And you can listen to it instead. The campaign is for Storytel, to promote the launch of the audiobook streaming service’s original remake of George Orwell’s 1984.
The film is perfectly poised, eerie, dark and ominous. Its timing is perfect. Mass surveillance, fake news, cancel culture and media censorship are in the news and on our minds. The campaign, 2022 sounds like 1984, points out that there are alarming similarities between the world in Orwell’s dystopian fiction and our current reality. If you care about you, B-Reel has made you want to get inside Orwell’s story.
Zack McDonald, executive creative director of B-Reel, stated, “The times we live in feel like they’re calling out for the wisdom of Orwell. When you open your ears to what’s happening in the world, everything begins to add up. 2022 really does sound like 1984, and we hope this campaign gets everyone to seriously listen and reflect.”

The alert viewer will pick up that the film has noticed 1+9+8+4=22.
Tobias Clewemar, global head of marketing creative at Storytel, commented, “The campaign breaks new ground in our category, and perfectly complements the creative nature of our brand. We were delighted to partner with B-Reel to celebrate our twist on this classic work, delivering it via a chilling and powerful new audio experience.”

The campaign launched on August 15 in Sweden and then in Poland, Netherlands, Turkey, Italy, Bulgaria, Mexico, Denmark, Finland and Spain from August 22.
