Lawyers are not usually funny. ARAG is. BarkleyOKRP took the company on a wild ride in May this year, with fan-favourite actress, Kathy Najimy, playing a mischievous fortune teller, in a campaign called Legal Happens. You can guess the plot.
Now the partners have turned the US’ attention to making a will. (Nearly 70% of American adults do not have a will, according to a Pew Research Centre survey.) And the campaign is even madder. The use of humour aims to make estate planning feel less intimidating and morbid – and ARAG more approachable. And BarkleyOKRP has twisted the idea of giving in a will, to getting in a will. Everyone likes to get something.
The interactive campaign, The Great Winheritance, invites people to visit TheGreatWinheritance.com in October to explore Najimy’s collection of eccentric personal items and submit a pitch explaining why they deserve to win one.
The campaign is backed by Legal Now, ARAG’s portal making estate planning far more approachable by offering attorney-reviewed, state-specific DIY document templates, telephone legal advice, and discounted access to network attorneys for more than 100 common legal matters.
Here are some of the fun things people can win in The Great Winheritance:
- My Boogie Bird: “Yes, it’s a disco ball shaped like a chicken. No, I don’t have an explanation. I just have excellent taste.”
- My Eye-Catching Jacket: “Eye just think you would look as fabulous as Eye did in this mesmereyesing jacket. See what Eye did there? Eye did!”
- All-Seeing Ring: “Forget seeing-eye dogs. This size seven ring always looked out for me and never once peed on my carpet. Who’s a good ring?!”
- My First Crystal Ball: “This crystal ball told me I was going to make it in Hollywood. What will it tell you?”
