“Ladies and gentlemen, this is a customer announcement for…”
Dads doing the supermarket at Tesco in advance of Father’s Day (june 19 in the UK) were rewarded with pre-recorded Father’s Day messages of love from their families – over the public address speakers (or tannoys).
Tesco agency, BBH, turned their reactions into a series of heartstring-tugging videos, which it then launched on Facebook before the core ad went to air on TV in the UK.
The Tesco website also hosted helpful ways in which family can show their acknowledgement and appreciation for their own dads.
Tesco is still working hard to recover from the worst crisis in its almost 100 year history, when Britain’s biggest grocery retailer was shown to have massively overstated its profits, resulting in a forced £263 million profit write-off and a 92% profit decline, in October 2014.
The films were produced by BBH’s in-house Black Sheep Studios.
