It looks as though another ad trend might be blossoming – flying.
In September Fred & Farid Los Angeles sent two people flying across the Swiss Alps to underline the natural ingredients and mountain herbs in Heineken’s Edelweiss wheat beer.
Now Burberry has sent four people flying across a field – it says, to celebrate the pioneering spirit of Burberry founder, Thomas Burberry. Apparently, he once said, “Inherent in every Burberry garment is freedom.”
“This campaign celebrates the fearless spirit of exploration which connects us with one another and the natural world,” stated Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci. “It’s about pushing boundaries and pursuing endless possibilities—looking to the future and connecting us all.”
The idea came from directing collective, Megaforce, which also created the much awarded Burberry Autumn/Winter 2020 commercial, Festive.
“For this film, we had the idea to celebrate the joy of being free, the love for nature and the strength of the collective,” stated a Megaforce representative. “These are familiar themes to Burberry’s vocabulary as well as its heritage of exploring the outdoors.”
The flying sequences were choreographed by (LA)HORDE, a collective formed in 2013 to reimagine the codes of the performing arts that is now at the head of the Ballet National de Marseille. The soundtrack is Counting Atomic, written and composed by American musician, Ryan Lott.
