The Burger King vs McDonald’s ad feud (or game – take your pick) is fun to watch. Whopper Detour may remain as the jewel in the crown for a very long time, but this smaller thrust and parry is deliciously snarky.
It began when McDonald’s installed a billboard outside a Burger King in Belgium that reads, Served by a king, or served as a king, a reference to McDonald’s table service, which Burger Kings doesn’t offer. The billboard also fashioned McDonald’s golden arches into a crown, which is Burger King’s symbol.
Within days, Burger King had posted a billboard beside it which reads, Why try to roast when you can’t even flame grill?”
Kudos to Burger King agency, Buzzman, for the quick and very clever wit.
