Screens or sex. According to Lovehoney research screens win. Lovehoney has discovered that Aussies give their screens 12 times more attention than their partner, and many would rather stay up scrolling than have a proper conversation or initiate sex.
That’s not a good outcome for the leader in sexual wellness. But it has worked out a way to get Aussie couples to take their hands off their phones and put them on each other, in a smart idea by creative communications agency, CampaignLab. The partners have launched DND (Down N Dirty), a series of off-grid cabin stays where the less you scroll, the less you pay. Couples who halve their scrolling stay for free.
The campaign, run in partnership with Into The Wild Escapes, asks guests to screenshot their screen time on arrival and again when they leave. The bigger the drop, the bigger the discount. Each cabin swaps phones for a disposable camera and a journal, and every stay includes a Lovehoney Reconnect Kit valued at over AU$250 (of which there are many enticing option tailored to different couples and pereferences), sent to the couple before arrival.

Ryan Foster, head of Lovehoney ANZ, stated, “We’re an online retailer asking Australians to spend less time on their phones, and we know how that sounds. But we’ve always believed sexual pleasure starts well before the bedroom, in the attention couples give each other. DND puts real money behind that. We’re not just encouraging couples to switch off, we’re picking up the bill when they do.”

CampaignLab founder and director, Andy Scales, commented, “Aussies are touching their phones more than they’re touching each other. Nobody wants a lecture about screen time, so we gave couples a better reason to put their phones down and made Lovehoney’s DND the only holiday where your screen time report is good news.”
The DND campaign will run across PR, social, creators, owned and paid channels.
DND cabins are bookable from 20 October at lovehoney.com.au/DND, with cabins in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA and WA.
