Bold. Brash. And a beautifully timed self-promo. GIGIL Phnom Penh has launched Cannes-Bodia.com, a parody and a portfolio, housed in a website that mimics that of Cannes Lions while showing off the agency’s own award-winning work.
That work includes two Bronze Lions in the Film Lions category last year – for Steal for Mandaue Foam Home Store and Miracle for RC Cola. In 2024, it won Silver in Film for No Sweat Summer, for Grab Philippines. In 2022, it won a Bronze Lion in Film for Party, for Cheers. And it 2021, it won a Bronze Lion in Film for Family, for RC Cola.
Cannes Bodia looks so very much like the Cannes Lions website. Visitors can browse shortlisted campaigns, winners and case studies in a format familiar to creatives and marketers around the world. But every shortlisted campaign is GIGIL’s work. Every winner is GIGIL’s work. Every case study is GIGIL’s work.
The humorous website blurb explains the rationale behind the idea: “Held annually in a highly air-conditioned conference room in Cambodia, the Cannes Bodia International Festival of Creativity is home to the world’s most prestigious award-winning work from us at GIGIL.
“Inspired by the annually held Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, which is the Oscars of the advertising industry. For GIGIL, it is the platform for the best of the best advertising work in the world, which they have been honoured to be a part of in recent years.
“Cannes Bodia celebrates our unmatched creativity, undeniable effectiveness, and the sheer innovation of our lunch orders, where the finest creatives (who all happen to work at our agency) and brave marketers (who also happen to be our clients) come together to make history for Cambodia with GIGIL’s arrival in the country.
“Cannes Bodia is proudly owned, judged, and produced by GIGIL, because when you’re always best-in-class, why bother inviting the competition?”
