The Grand Prix for Good was won by Malak and the Boat for UNICEF by 180LA, Santa Monica.
“Sometimes you have to support an idea whose moment is now,” John Hegarty remarked. “This campaign was incredibly emotional and as a jury we played a small part in helping it reaching more people.”
Agency of the Year was won by AlmapBBDO Sao Paulo. Grey New York came 2nd and INGO, Stockholm 3rd.
Independent Agency of the Year was won by Droga5, New York. Jung von Matt came 2nd and Wieden+Kennedy, Portland 3rd.
The Palme d’Or, given to the most awarded production company, was won by Tool, USA. Epoch Films, USA came 2nd and Stink, United Kingdom 3rd.
The Network of the Year award was won by Ogilvy & Mather, for the 5th year in a row. BBDO came 2nd and Y&R 3rd.
Holding Company of the Year was won by WPP got the 6th year in a row. Omnicom 2nd and Interpublic 3rd.
Samsung Electronics was named Creative Marketer of the Year.
Marcello Serpa was honoured as this year’s Lion of St Mark.
Blake Mycoskie, founder and leader of ethical shoe brand TOMS received the LionHeart Award for his socially responsible business model.
The Cannes Lionheart Award 2016 goes to TOMS founder, Blake Mycoskie
15,000 attendees went to Cannes Lion. The awards received 43,000 entries. There were 7 awards shows and 2 galas.
