As football club wear continues to become fashion – or everyday – wear, football kit ads are becoming creatively interesting. Scottish team, Celtic FC, which has renewed its partnership with adidas this year, has delivered a clever story about away games…with a few drawcards.

Firstly, there’s irony in the story that begins by telling its audience that away games are simply day fillers. Then, those day fillers include music star and lifelong Celtic supporter, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie; former player, Henrik Larsson, and current players, Callum McGregor and Kelly Clark; plus football legends, Charlie Mulgrew and John Collins, and musicians and Celtic fans, Brooke Coomb and Rianne Downey, plus DJ Jasper James.

Underlined by Primal Scream’s ‘90s hit, Movin’ on Up, the film turns out to be a love letter to Glasgow and Celtic fans who travel worldwide to support the team. Lastly, there’s Easter egg content to reward eagle-eyed fans, the Predator boots first worn by John Collins in 1994 when he became the first player to score wearing the boot before the boots took over the footballing world as the go-to boots for the biggest stars…

…and, of course, there’s a behind-the-scenes video because fans thrive on knowing everything about their team.
