A big first win for the newly merged Clemenger BBDO after integrating with CHEP Network and Traffik a month ago. Clemenger BBDO has won Wesfarmers department store chain Kmart account. Led by CEO, Lee Leggett, Clemenger BBDO will work across brand and key retail campaigns for the Australian retailer. The pitch began in November before the departure of CEO, Dani Bassil; CCO, Adrián Flores and CGO; Anita Zanesco.
Kmart is a dominant player in Australian retail, with its mass market appeal. At the end of the 2023/24 financial year, parent company, Wesfarmers, reported Kmart Group recorded a revenue of $11.1 million, with profits lifting by almost 25%. The win helps to compensate for the loss of Myer late at the end of 2024, when Clemenger BBDO decided not to re-pitch.
The incumbent agency, Dentsu Creative, had worked with Kmart on and off for 14 years and decided not to re-pitch. DDB Melbourne had held the account from 2020 to 2022 and before that BWM Dentsu has led the account for ten years.
Kmart joins a client list at Clemenger that includes Samsung, Asahi, Mars, Michael Hill, and 7-Eleven. Also joining from CHEP Network’s new business wins in the past year are Simplot, Bupa, Tourism NT, and Spirit of Tasmania.
