Of all the brave ads ever produced in the world, this one has to wear the crown. CLM BBDO has got Mars Wrigley as to put Bounty bars in Snickers packs for its version of You’re Not You When You’re Hungry.
The idea is that no one is excluded from the effects of being hungry, not even the Snickers production team.
Yes, the stunt upset Snickers fans. Twitter attests to that. In just a few hours the hashtag, #SnickersGate, went viral, sparking over 20,000 interactions.
Snickers let the hoax run for 24 hours before it confessed its ruse with the tagline, We’re not us when we’re hungry.
The stunt was then turned into a case study:
Because bravery has a limit: The allergens are the same for these two products, the brand has not exposed its fans to any risks.
