Here’s an antidote to creative frustration – yours, and probably Ant Melder’s. Melder has released an album of ‘Rubbish Fantastic’ poetry set to music. Melder’s Rubbish Fantastic album is called Oh, The Places You Won’t Go! and the 11-track/poem album covers a range of themes including the meaning of art, the banality of social media, a tribute to Helen Garner, and the pros and cons of having skinny legs.
The album features Melder’s spoken word performance brought to life through a range of beautifully composed music tracks. Music collaborators include #mobygratis, infamous Sydney band BLOKBSTR and musician/engineer/creative Lewis Clark.
@rubbishfantastic is a fusion of provocative, poignant, and puerile art. An exhibition in 2024 raised funds for the Cocogun Scholarship for Indigenous Creatives.
Melder commented, “There’s too much waffle about AI automation and optimised salesflows in the world…and not enough whimsical, juvenile, slightly unhinged poetry. This album redresses the balance. As it rockets up the streaming charts, I’m sure Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are absolutely quaking in their boots.”

Listen to Oh, The Places You Won’t Go! is on Spotify.
