This is the big week of the Cresta Awards submission. Your really last chance. Entries close August 2.
Whether you are still uploading or have submitted your Cresta entries, now is the time to put the finishing touches. It can make a big difference to how your work performs.
Cresta’s jurors want to see your entries in the best light. While Cresta encourages them to spend plenty of time on each entry, they appreciate clear communication and the right amount of detail. Great work deserves great consideration and you have a big part to play in making that happen.
Here are five tips to help your creative genius shine brightly among the award contenders:
1) Check the basics: have you uploaded the right elements? Are all the parts of the campaign entry attached? Does the film play from beginning to end? Etc. Every year Cresta has to fix some of these details. These simple mistakes are the easy ones to make. So double-check.
2) Have you taken the opportunity to add explanatory material? Judges don’t want a deluge of notes but sometimes a background point or two really helps an entry be best appreciated.
3) Are there important language issues that cannot be translated into English? That’s the base language for the judges but some phrases can be untranslate-able. If it is important, explain it with a note.
4) Have you really given your best work the best chance to shine? Is it in the right category? Every year there are award-winners that triumph because of smart entry…whether that is putting it into the most appropriate category or backing a winner by entering into multiple categories, improving the chance of getting noticed. This is about advertising. You know that life begins by getting noticed.
5) Finally, are all the right credits there and are names spelled correctly, roles identified? This is not one for the judges to bother about (they don’t see these details) but you don’t want to have your teammates looking at you with a pained expression. Or worse.
Remember: you can amend submissions, even after completing, right up to the end of August 2. But that’s only a few days away, so don’t delay.
Midnight PST 2 August…the final deadline.
