In November 2020, @DanannMcAleer, posted a story he had written at age seven and tagged John Lewis inviting the department store company (perhaps humorously) to use it as its Christmas ad.
John Lewis didn’t. But this year, Twitter has.
David Madrid and Passion Pictures have turned into an animation, directed by Roxane Campoy and Twitter is giving away soft toys based on the film in John Lewis style in a contest for those who tweet what they most like about the commercial.
To celebrate Christmas on Twitter this year, and festive TV ads, we’re sharing a story that started with a Tweet. Please say hello to Jack and James, the Snowflakes. #ThePerfectChristmasAd

One of the lovely things about making this was that although @DanannMcAleer knew we were doing something, he didn’t know we were bringing his story of Jack and James to life.
Here’s the moment, we spoke to him about Christmas and shared the video with him. pic.twitter.com/sKt7UL3kTW
