Even Dawn French and Fairy can get stuck in gridlock traffic. Marks & Spencer has found probably the last part of Christmas that everyone can relate to, that hasn’t turned up time and time again in a Christmas commercial. Kudos for the point of difference.

Of course, Christmas ads are about joy, so when French notices an M&S food lorry in front of her, Fairy races off to break open its doors. And all of this has been the preface to a display of M&S’ Christmas fare – and a story infused with the Christmas spirit of happiness and Dawn French’s special brand of wit.

Chris Rea’s classic Driving Home for Christmas underlines the story. Celebrity chef, Tom Kerridge adds his foodie credentials in a cameo. (He has also joined forces with Marks & Spencer to create some special Christmas food.)
