Volkswagen has a history of marching to its own advertising beat and subtle humour has often played a leading role. DDB Argentina has upheld that tradition in two print ads for the car brand.

There are far too many people who think that driving after a few drinks isn´t such a bad idea. Volkswagen Argentina wanted to correct their thinking but didn´t want to do the typical campaign that displays dramatic situations. One of the most dangerous effects that alcohol has is the decrease of inhibition and the increase in confidence. DDB Buenos Aires decided to show in all its embarrassing glory.
“We showed the blood alcohol content on people who do the dumbest things, so they don´t the dumbest of them all: drinking and driving,” DDB noted.
In the second ad, Volkswagen Argentina wanted to highlight all the technological features that the brand and its models are offering, without the usual stereotypes. DDB Argentina found a relatable, human way to get VW’s message across. “Every driver can relate to a chaotic traffic situation and it’s where most of the driver assistance features can be shown off,” the agency noted.
