When Burger King launched grilled hot dogs in the Netherlands last month, Amsterdam creative agency, Etcetera, created its worst campaign.
(For those whose experience in food excludes European staples, “worst” is the Dutch word for hot dog.)
Etcetera: Burger King kicks off the year with the worst campaign
The campaign invited people throughout the Netherlands to meet up in Amsterdam and let go of the things they don’t need – and don’t like – by grilling them. The worst things in the Netherlands were going to be flame-grilled.
“And, BOY oh boy, did they take Burger King up on this unusual invitation! Despite the typical Dutch weather, featuring EXTREME rain and an average temperature of 2.5C, people turned up, eager to set fire to all manner of items, from broken bike locks, to sex toys, to their ‘worst’ meals,” Etecetera noted.
