If you’re a creative looking to break into artistic and commercial photography, The Pool Grant is an offer of help.

The initiative, created by The Pool Collective, provides $10,000 and a year of mentorship to an emerging photographer to complete a photographic project. At the end of the year, the series will be shown at a solo exhibition during Head On Photo Festival. The Pool Collective is a creative cooperative based in Sydney made up of seven artists who work in motion and still imagery.

Submissions open on April 4 and the deadline for entries is May 4 (11:59pm AEST *No late entries will be accepted)

Since 2009, Pool’s artists have been acting as mentors through the Pool Grant, to help kickstart the career of an emerging image-maker each year.

“The Pool Grant is a cornerstone of Pool’s philosophy,” stated Cameron Gray, managing director.

“Our artists believe it is essential to support the creative community by sharing their experience and resources in an impactful and tangible way.The Pool Grant could change someone’s career.

“We’re inspired by the proposals that come through and how applicants are supplementing their work with creative mixed media ideas. In that way, The Pool Grant has grown and evolved as we have as a collective, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing what’s in store this year.”

The Pool Grant is open to Australian and New Zealand residents over 18 years of age and with less than 3 years of professional experience in photography. Your task as an entrant is to inspire The Pool Collective with your ideas as well as your skills.
