Goodby Silverstein & Partners turns to entertaining hyperbole again to make Xfinity the hero that solves mobile’s most annoying problems – breaking your device, huge mobile bills and no wifi. In the new work, they’re “the end of the world”. The campaign, part of Xfinity’s Imagine That campaign, imagines a world overrun by the undead turning the frustrations of mobile accounts that don’t always deliver into life-or-death situations.
The three new films were directed by Damien Shatford and produced by Xfinity Creative Production, building on the platform introduced last year when Xfinity gave Frankenstein the weekend of his “life, followed by a Jurassic Park remake Super Bowl ad.
“We wanted to push ‘Imagine That’ somewhere unexpected,” stated Jeff Goodby, co-founder and co-chairman of GS&P. “Zombies gave us the perfect excuse to show that despite how chaotic the world gets, the technology in your home just keeps working, quietly, reliably, almost heroically, thanks to Xfinity. That contrast is the whole joke, and the whole point.”
“A dead zone at the worst possible moment, a forgotten download before you lose WiFi, a cracked screen right when you need it most—these are the moments that can feel like the end of the world,” added Diana Hicks, executive director, brand IMC, at Xfinity. “The campaign personifies that feeling through a zombie apocalypse, showing that with Xfinity Mobile, customers can stay connected and worry a little less, no matter what comes their way.”
