Doubt about the power of wind energy persists. Doubts that enter culture are difficult to budge – argument meets rebuttal in an endless cycle.
Havas Lisbon could have injected another rational argument into the debate, but it did something more interesting, more creative and more impactful. The agency used a real-life metaphor – Olympic medallist, Melissa Jefferson’s personal best.
Havas Lisbon and EDP took Melissa to a wind farm, where the partners built a 100-metre track and set the stage for something riveting – and remarkable. As the turbines spin in the background, Melissa shatters her personal record, showing the world just how unstoppable wind energy can be. This is then noted with the simple observation, “We are faster with the power of the wind.”
The campaign also is not just about energy, it’s about harnessing the unstoppable force of nature to power a carbon-neutral future.
“As one of the largest producers of wind energy globally, EDP stands at the forefront of the energy revolution. Our role isn’t just about responding to climate change, we are fueling economic growth and empowering communities worldwide. In 2024, we surpassed 12,000 MW of installed capacity and generated more than 31,000 GWh of clean energy from the wind. This is the decade of action. Every revolution of the turbines takes us closer to a greener, more sustainable future. And with that energy, we race together towards a brighter tomorrow,” statedVera Pinto Pereira, executive director of EDP.

This campaign created by Havas Lisbon, was produced and directed by Garage, with media planning by Wavemaker to ensure that its message reaches every corner of the globe. In Portugal, the campaign will dominate digital platforms, social media, and television for three weeks, while also making waves across digital and social media in Spain, Germany, France, Italy, the UK, Poland, Belgium, and Denmark.
