Ikea Australia has triggered a global internet promotion that cost the company absolutely nothing.
It began in March, when Kanye West dropped his first “I want to work with you, Ikea” hint.
Super inspired by my visit to Ikea today , really amazing company… my mind is racing with the possibilities…

Ikea ignored him. He gave it another go in June.

There was still no love from Ikea. So on August 1, in an interview with BBC 1, he skipped the hints and spelled out his Ikea wishes.
“I have to work with Ikea – make furniture for interior design, for architecture.”
Students, he said, would be especially eager to have him design “a minimalist apartment inside of a college dorm”.
He even imagined what they’d say, “Yo Ikea, allow Kanye to create, allow him to make this thing because you know what, I want a bed that he makes, I want a chair that he makes.”
Ikea Australia responded the next day on Facebook.
Note: The Yeezy bedframe includes attachments for an endless number of other bedframes, referencing Kanye’s Famous music video, in which he is seen in bed naked, beside his wife (who is lying naked arse up)…and a motley (celebrity) crew that includes Taylor Swift and Donald Trump.
The internet then went to work promoting Ikeanye at Kanye’s expense, with Bored Panda curating.
