Mexican agency, Isla, has taken Gatorade into new territory for sports drink advertising. Break up is a short film about the end of a young man’s love affair and how he recovers from the heartbreak of separation through sports. It’s also a story about the power of exercise to manage mental health – told in the film-story way that people relate to.
The three-minute film was directed by Nicolás Pérez Veiga and produced by Primo Buenos Aires. Bonnie Tyler’s song, It’s a heartbreak provides the film’s title as well as underlining the emotional power of the film.
“Together with our regional team, we have worked for the last three years in connecting the brand to new audiences. This short film tells the story of what happens when playing sports intervenes in human everyday stories,” stated Rodrigo Grau and Ariel Serkin, chief creative officer Isla.
“No matter which sport you play, what kind of training you do or your fitness level, Gatorade exists to provide you with complete hydration, with electrolytes and energy, to perform better and reach your potential,” added Martin Watson, hydration marketing senior director, Gatorade.
