John Lewis is looking for a new creative agency, saying goodbye to adam&eveDDB after 14 years. adam&eve/DDB has declined to pitch; this includes Waitrose as well as John Lewis.
The pitch is being handled by Oystercatchers and follows management changes at John Lewis. Earlier this month it announced that it was reducing the number of customer directors in its business from three to two and customer director. Claire Pointon, stepped down after three years leading marketing for the John Lewis brand, replaced by Charlotte Lock, who added customer director to her role as well as pan-partnership customer director.
Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s has also put its creative agency into review after seven years with Wieden + Kennedy. Wieden + Kennedy declined to pitch.
It wasn’t all about Christmas for either brand but it was for brand advertising watchers. Farewell to an era of Christmas advertising from two great agencies for two famous brands. It will be very interesting to see what comes next.
