Jung von Matt has been making Edeka famous at Christmas for its ads that cut across the joy, love and family togetherness themes that abound in Chrissy ads as a whole.
In 2015, the supermarket chain reminded people to think about the elderly in its Christmas ad.
And last year, it reminded them to opt out of the stress of Christmas preparations with an ad called Give Time.
This year’s ad is even more impactful. A reminder that joy, love and family togetherness are important things that people crave. In the ad, which is set in the year 2117, the “person” who craves them is a robot. The world has been taken over by robots. It’s almost entirely devoid of joy, love and family togetherness. One robot begins a journey to find a Wunderbare Weihnachten (Wonderful Christmas).
The four minute film is a magnificent production. Kudos to director, Matthijs van Heijningen, production company Sterntag and MPC for the VFX, animation and grade.
