There’s a Fried Chicken Day. Who knew? Thais do now. KFC has made this year’s Fried Chicken Day a madcap event with the offer, Release a Chicken, Get Free Chicken, encouraging fans to show their limitless creativity to take in all kinds of ‘chickens’ and receive a free Hot & Spicy fried chicken.
The activity made KFC stores at KFC Central Westgate, Central Phitsanulok, and Robinson Lifestyle Prachinburi, buzz with laughter, and social media went wild with chicken-themed moments, becoming a viral sensation with over 1 million reach within 24 hours.
Fans released their chickens in the most creative ways at KFC restaurants and in social media – a chicken squeeze toy, a chicken patterned rice sack, a cock fighting T-shirt, a Kor Kai alphabet book…

Customers simply needed to order at least 1 menu item containing chicken with no minimum purchase amount and bring any kind of ‘chicken’ to show off: Eligible items:
- Were shaped like a ‘chicken’, such as a chicken doll, chicken costumes or chicken makeup.
- Contained the word, ‘chicken’, such as chicken coop, shuttlecock (Luk Khon Kai), and the famous chicken brand bowl (Charm Tra Kai).
- Or the real name on an ID card started with the consonant ‘Kor Kai’ in the Thai alphabet.

Release a Chicken, Get Free Chicken was born from the insight that Thai people are renowned for their creativity and love of participation, especially when their favourite brands host fun activities that provide space for self-expression or collaborative fun-making. They become even more eager to be part of creating excitement on special days, not wanting to miss out on trends.
Suhayl Limbada, market lead & chief marketing officer KFC Thailand, stated, “These moments of joy confirm that Thai people truly possess unique creative energy and a distinctive sense of fun. KFC would like to thank everyone who joined us in bringing color to this special day. It was truly a day of happiness, laughter, and wonderful moments where everyone came together to enjoy themselves like true fried chicken lovers. We believe that happiness begins simply by sharing chicken and smiles with one another. We promise to continue developing fun campaigns and activities like this to deliver experiences that go beyond just delicious food, allowing chicken lovers to share happiness and great stories with us again.”
