Started flying on the, um…less expensive, airlines lately? More and more people are. KLM is hoping to win friends and influence flyers back to its own airline by giving those who’ve opted to forego the frills, fancies and freebies (like food) – or as they used to be known, flying essentials – with a virtual experience of those nice things. A virtual experience of flying on KLM.
The KLM Flight Upgrader was handed out at no cost to people waiting to board budget flights for JFK New York.
“Just pop this thing on your head and you can use virtual reality to escape the real reality of your budget flight,” states the narrator in the campaign video.
Passengers can spend as much time aboard the virtual flight as they want to. They can even watch the full episode of a show they’d have to pay for on their own flight.
If you want to escape the reality of your next budget flight, you can download the KLM Flight Upgrader app from Google Play and the App Store, then use you own VR headset.
