How did they make that? LEGO doesn’t only inspire imaginative play, it also inspires awe. The brand’s most recent launch in China is the LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear. With only 30 road-legal examples ever produced it is one of the world’s most exclusive hypercars. LEGO Technic has recreated it at 1:8 scale with 4,104 pieces – the highest piece count in the Ultimate Car Concept Series to date.
To enhance inspired awe, LEGO transformed Shanghai subway stations into a series of public installations, making LEGO engineering excellence visible – and buildable.
Every one of the set’s 4,104 authentic LEGO Technic pieces was individually mounted in subway lightboxes across Shanghai. Rather than displaying only the finished model, the installations reveal the engineering behind the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, piece by piece.

At West Nanjing Road Station, four sequential installations reveal the engineering behind the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear – from the 1,625 hp twin-turbo engine and Koenigsegg’s unique 9-speed Light Speed Transmission to the Triplex suspension system and aerodynamic bodywork – before culminating in the complete model.

At Lujiazui Station, four large-scale installations display all 4,104 authentic LEGO Technic pieces alongside the completed model, allowing commuters to experience The Zenith of Engineering Excellence through LEGO Technic.

The project was built by a team of 15 builders over 26 days and more than 3,000 hours and features every one of the set’s 4,104 authentic LEGO Technic pieces.
